While everyone else is spamming Instagram with what you’ll find in big box stores, I’ve been taking a different approach to Halloween hunting since 2020. Every Friday in August and September each year, I choose one small business I personally love to highlight on my site and share 10 things from their shop I think are amazing.

The best part? They all sell year-round! No more being limited to the seasonal aisles at the craft store.

If you’re looking for small businesses to fall in love with, be sure to browse the archives. Then come back to the blog every Friday now through the end of September for my 2023 picks.

Up first this year: someone I just shopped with last weekend at Midsummer Scream! Abbybelle Folk Art has been a favorite of mine since I first met her at Midsummer Scream in 2018. That year, I grabbed a couple of small ornaments, but this year I was excited to pick up one of her figurines! See it in yesterday’s Halloween haul post.

Abby’s work is all done with clay and paper mache, making it unique, rustic, and vintage-inspired. Check out a few of my fave picks!

Black Cat on a Stick

I have a few little picks tucked into plants in my Halloween office these days, and this black cat would look adorable in a pothos! You could also use it as a wand to dress up a Halloween look or costume. GET IT HERE

The Creature

This guy was ADORABLE in person, and I almost picked him over my little jack-o-lantern guy. Need a Creature for your movie shelf? GET IT HERE

Frankenstein

Another adorable figure you could tuck into a shelf. I loved Abby’s shade of green for all her monsters. GET IT HERE

Ghost Girl Trick-or-Treater

Bucktoothed Pumpkin Ornament

Okay, I know—I’m sneaking a bit of Christmas into this post, but what better time to prep to make it spooky than now? Plus, Abby’s ornaments were some of my first purchases from her. Be my twin! GET IT HERE

Black Cat Ornament

More of a black cat fan? Then this ornament will be perfect on your holiday tree! GET IT HERE

Wide-Eyed Pumpkin Ornament

One more adorable pumpkin ornament! I’m finding more and more that I love yellow mixed into my Halloween decor. GET IT HERE
