Did you know there’s a genre of music called “monster music”?
And no, we’re not talking just “Monster Mash” here. In fact, you won’t find that song on this playlist at all! (But if you want to hear it, check out these 50+ covers I collected into a playlist a few years ago.
I learned a ton about monster music last year when I read “Graveyard Groove” by David Acord, which I highly, highly recommend if you love Halloween-themed music at all. This genre came about from a few different places but has left its indelible mark on rock ‘n roll.
And a lot of the tunes on today’s playlist are a result of that!
Now, there are a lot of different directions to go when putting together a monster-related playlist for Halloween. I could have included songs about any type of monster, but I decided to stick with that specific word for this playlist. You’ll find monster music classics, like “The Monster Hop” by Jimmy Dee, as well as modern faves (All Time Low, Lady Gaga) on the list.
